The meeting to salute Mrs. Nekibe Kelmendi for the last time, who gave so much to Kosovo, the homeland and its people, is a very sad and painful moment.
The respected Madam Nekibe Kelmendi was committed, all her life, for the benefit of citizens, freedoms and human rights, for the rule of law, state building and creation and functioning of democratic institutions.
Her vision remained – the Republic of Kosovo democratic state of all citizens without distinction, integrated in European structures and in permanent friendship with the United States of America.
Freedom, independence and democracy were the fundamental principles of Mrs. Nekibe Kelmendi and of all nationwide movement for the ideals of which Mrs. Kelmendi was involved with all its potential, by putting everything for this ideal.
The work of Mrs. Nekibe Kelmendi aroused admiration for her commitment, for highly professional approach, for benevolent stance and determination to be uncompromising in defense of the principles in which she believed in equality of all before the law and in perpetuating of the rate of the rule of law in the Kosovo society.
The political commitment was approximating which harmonized the differences but never yielded in the concepts and principles which she considered prerequisite for building a better future for generations to come.
Family Kelmendi sacrificed their loved ones at the altar of freedom of the homeland, and we all witnessed the stoicism of this mother, wife and sister, who gave us courage to overcome the traumas of the past having no hatred in her soul filled with a lot of love and humanity.
The future should not be hostage of the past and the past, no matter how painful, mustn’t remain an obstacle for us to build the society of the future, Mrs. Nekibe told us when we sometimes showed instant dilemmas.
Madam Nekibe Kelmendi in this world is leaving her most loved ones, family, friends, companions, lovers, supporters to whom she served as a good example, to go into the eternal world, to meet the most beloved family members, for whom she felt craving and pain which she kept to herself gracefully.
Kosovo will miss Mrs. Nekibe Kelmendi and the constellation of people who gave their soul for the national ideal, but whenever Kosovo will be in difficult times it will take the courage and confidence from Mrs. Nekibe Kelmendi.
Madam Nekibe, thank you for all that you did for us.
