President Jahjaga’s meetings at the 9th World Islamic Economic Forum

President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, had a meeting today with the Director of the World Islamic Forum, Tun Musa Hitam, whom she thanked for the invitation for participation at the proceedings of this important forum. Madam President also added that Kosovo’s participation at the World Islamic Economic Forum is an opportunity to exchange experiences with all participating countries and to establish direct relations in common interest in economic development and investments.

Director of the 9th World Islamic Economic Forum thanked President Jahjaga for her participation at the Forum and expressed readiness to continue the cooperation in mutual interest.

Madam President also participated last night, on November 29th, at the dinner organised at the opening of the 9th World Islamic Economic Forum. The dinner, apart from the senior representatives of the participating countries, was also attended by the Presidents of Afghanistan and Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Prime Minister of Malaysia, as well as Charles, Prince of Wales, the Heir to the UK throne.

President Jahjaga during the last day also met with the Prime Minister of Bermuda, Mr. Craig Cannonier, with whom she discussed the issues of establishment of the mutual cooperation in the field of economic development.

Earlier, during the reception for the guests of the World Islamic Economic Forum, President also met with the Prime Minister of Morocco, Mr. Abdelilah Benkirane, with

Whom she discussed the issue of recognition of Kosovo. Madam President emphasized that Kosovo is a sui generis case and since the declaration of independence in 2008, it has been recognised by more than 100 countries, members of the UN. She also said that Kosovo is an example of good neighbourliness in the region and promoter of peace and stability.

Prime Minister of Morocco, Mr. Abdelilah Benkirane, expressed his interest in actual developments in Kosovo and for its developmental capacities and stated that he is aware of the issue of Kosovo’s independence.

President Jahjaga also met with the Prime Minister of Malaysia Dato Sri Najib bin Mahid Abdual Tun Razak, whom she thanked for the invitation to participate at the World Islamic Economic Forum and for his engagement to support Kosovo in all fields.
