Wednesday, January 29, 2020 – The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, after the fall, while on duty, of the member of the Kosovo Police, Sami Thaqi, has declared Thursday, the 30th of January 2020, a day of mourning, in a sign of national honor.
In accordance with the legislation in force, on the day of mourning, announced to honor the life and work of police officer Sami Thaqi, the state flag is raised on half mast in all state facilities of the Republic of Kosovo, at home and abroad.
During the day, President Thaçi also awarded the Order “Hero of Kosovo” for police officer Sami Thaqi.
“The heroism of Sami, Enver, Izet and dozens of police officer who have fallen on duty is the pride of the Republic of Kosovo. Their sacrifice for the protection of law and order obliges us to work even harder for a peaceful and stable Kosovo and a better place for all our citizens”, the Head of State said.
