Paris, 19 June 2009

Mr. President,

In the course of a year and a half following its independence, your state new how to promote itself in the international arena and everybody can not but accept now the irreversibility of its existence. The recent recognitions and accessions to the most important financial institutions indicate the dynamism of the process on which your country has embarked.

You have volunteered your leadership in reforms to establish democracy and rule of law in Kosovo and to adhere to European values. Personally, you have provided a crucial contribution to the efforts made to ensure that different communities living in Kosovo are given a merited place, by contributing, thus, to the regional stability.

I know how important it is to you to foster a stable and prosperous Kosovo moving towards its integration into Europe. I also acknowledge your will to engage in boosting friendly relations and trust between our countries.

France strongly supports the new Republic of Kosovo and I was very pleased with the conversation I had with your Prime Minister on the June 8. We discussed achievements in your country so far but further progress that needs to be made as well. I would be delighted to invite you to an occasion, which we should set together cautiously, which would mark a meeting acknowledging a new era of relations between our countries.
I kindly ask You, Mr. President, to accept assurances of my highest considerations.

His Excellency
Mr. Fatmir SEJDIU
President of Republic of Kosovo
