The Acting President of the Republic of Kosovo Dr. Jakup Krasniqi addressed a letter today to the President of Hungary, His Excellency Pál Schmitt, wishing him success in chairing the European Union Presidency, which the country has taken over as of January the 1st.
“I highly appreciate your engagement in enhancing stability and safety in the Western Balkan and in bringing it closer to the EU. This commitment will have a positive impact on the general process of democratisation and stability in these countries and in Kosovo in particular”, Mr. Krasniqi.
“Following legitimisation of declaration of independence of Kosovo by International Court of Justice, UN General Assembly called for a technical dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, so as to better the lives of our people. We hope and engage in ensuring that the dialogue will contribute to these two countries’ advancement towards Europe and mutual friendship and cooperation, rather than to the return to the dark past history”, Mr. Krasniqi says further in his letter.
“Republic of Kosovo has made a continued headway and efforts in reforms that relate to European integration. I rest strongly confident that Hungarian Presidency will keep on supporting Kosovo and its people in accomplishing their European aspirations as soon as possible. On this occasion Mr. President, I assure you of institutions of Republic of Kosovo’s will, capability and commitment to meeting EU integration criteria. We are positive that the process of Schengen visa liberalisation for the people of Kosovo will advance during the Hungarian Presidency”, the Acting President of the Republic of Kosovo Dr. Jakup Krasniqi asserted, inter alia.
