The Acting President of the Republic of Kosovo Dr. Jakup Krasniqi has sent a letter to His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI wishing him Merry Christmas.
“I seize this opportunity to express, yet again, my appreciation for the attention that You and the Holy See have paid to my country. Thank God and owing to our engagement and the permanent support of our international friends, the Republic of Kosovo is celebrating this holiday as a sovereign and independent state”, Dr. Jakup Krasniqi writes in his letter.
“Kosovo keeps on receiving recognitions by various democracies worldwide and we strongly believe that the process will gain in pace in the years to come.
The people of Kosovo, a country that represents a rare example of co-existence, harmony and tolerance between people of different ethnic and religious backgrounds, can hardly wait for the recognition of the Republic of Kosovo by Vatican, so I kindly ask Your Highness to take note of our request for the recognition of the Republic of Kosovo”, the Acting President of the Republic of Kosovo Dr. Jakup Krasniqi writes in his letter of congratulation to the Pope Benedict XVI.
