President Thaçi traveled to Armenia, participates in the 17th Francophonie Summit

Prishtina, October 9, 2018 – The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, has traveled today to Yerevan, Armenia, where he will participate in the 17th Francophonie Summit, to be held on October 11 and 12, 2018.

President Thaçi in this summit will be accompanied by First Deputy Prime Minister, Behgjet Pacolli, at the same time Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Among the most important topics for Kosovo, to be discussed in this summit, will also be the advancement of the status of the Republic of Kosovo in this organization, from observer to associate member.

During his stay in Yerevan, Armenia, President Thaçi will also meet with leaders of the Francophone countries, who will be attending this summit.

In these meetings, President Thaçi will also seek support for visa liberalization and Kosovo’s membership into Interpol.

The Summit of Heads of State and Governments is the highest instance of the International Organization of La Francophonie, where the Republic of Kosovo has been an observing member since 2014.

This organization unites 84 member states and governments, which have in common the French language and values that the Francophonie countries share.
