Rezalla, April 05 – The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, participated today at the commemoration of the fallen at the massacre of Rrezalla. After placing flowers at the graves of the fallen, President Thaçi said that we should all be conscious of the great sacrifice that has been made to arrive at this day.
At the commemoration of the 18th anniversary of the massacre of Rrezalla, the President said that the Kosovar state, society and the entire Albanian nation honors and respects the freedom martyrs of Rrezalla and of entire Kosovo who gave their lives for freedom, for independence.
“We should all be aware that without those efforts, without that sacrifice, neither the freedom, nor the independence of Kosovo would have occurred”, added President Thaçi.
He further said that today we remember with pain all the fallen for freedom and independence, but at the same time we also feel proud.
The President added that with great pain we remember all those martyrs, from infants up to the older people who are victims of violence and repression up to the proportions of the committed genocide by the Serb army and police.
“We feel very proud of all those comrades, with your families, that each home of yours here in Rezalla, anywhere in Drenica was the Kosovo Liberation Army, and you should be confident and always feel proud, as you have always felt. Because, without that unity of yours, without that sacrifice of yours, the remarkable liberty would have never happened, which the children of Kosovo are enjoying today”, said the President.
He further said that we are right here today in Rezalla to commemorate the martyrs of freedom, to commemorate the past, but also to get energy for our goals for the future of Kosovo as a consolidated state, to become members of NATO, of the European Union.
“Now, we are getting strengthened as a state, we get new recognitions, we will become members of other international organizations as well, we will have, very fast, in the near future the Kosovo Army, we will also be part of NATO, we will also preserve the partnership with the United States of America, but I stress that everything coming good to Kosovo, derives from the sacrifice of the freedom fighters, the national martyrs, from the war that we have conducted”, added President Thaçi.
