Koshare, April 9, 2019 – The President of state, Hashim Thaçi, paid homage today at the martyrs’ cemeteries in Koshare and participated at the Memorial Gathering, in the framework of the Traditional Manifestation “Ditët e Shqipes 2019”, in honor of the 20th anniversary of the Battle of Koshare.
President Thaçi has said that the Battle of Koshare has opened a new chapter at that time for the Kosovo Liberation Army, for the freedom, liberation and independence of Kosovo.
“Today we mark the 20th anniversary of this patriotic, important, historic and decisive struggle for the liberation of Kosovo. In the ranks of these commitments for freedom and independence, for liberation all were united. All were united with one aim, with one goal, with a vision, the ultimate liberation of Kosovo from Serbia’s more than one-century rule”, said President Thaçi.
He stressed that today when we mark the 20th anniversary of the Battle of Koshare, at the same time we also recall the massacres that the state of Serbia has committed in Kosovo.
“These commemorations have the dignity, pride, and at the same time have the pain and tears in the eyes of every citizen for those who gave their lives for freedom, especially for the martyrs who were ruthlessly executed by the Serbian army and police. So, we also recall 13 thousand and 500 civilians killed by the state of Serbia, we recall about 400 massacres all over Kosovo and about 20,000 women raped by the Serbian army and police”, said President Thaçi
The Head of State has said that 20 years after this battle there are 20 years of our state building efforts, 20 years of pride, dignity and strength of state identity, for building a new Kosovo, a Euro-Atlantic Kosovo, a Kosovo that will always thank the United States of America, NATO and all other partners that helped us to freedom and independence.
President Thaçi has once again congratulated all those present for the establishment of the Kosovo Army, which, according to him, will function throughout the territory of the Republic of Kosovo.
“Being this a new, modern army of NATO standards that will not function partially in the territory of Kosovo, but in every corner of the territory of the Republic of Kosovo”, he added.
Based on his constitutional powers, for the patriotic contribution of Brigade 138 “Agim Ramadani”, President Thaçi has decorated this brigade with the “Order of Freedom” and from today has declared all the martyrs of this brigade heroes of Kosovo.
