President Thaçi receives Ambassador of Sweden, accredited to Kosovo on a non-residential basis, as of September Sweden will raise its diplomatic representation

Prishtina, 25 July 2016 – President of the Republic fo Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, received today the Ambassador of Sweden, accredited to Kosovo on a non-residential basis, Mats Staffansson.

Ambassador Staffansson informed President Thaçi that Sweden has decided to raise its representation in Kosovo and that as of September 2016 there will be a Swedish ambassador in Prishtina.
 
President Thaçi welcomed the good news and expressed gratitude for this important decision for the relations between Kosovo and Sweden.
 
Ambassador Staffansson expressed satisfaction with his cooperation with the Kosovo authorities.
 
“Congratulation for the new recognition of Kosovo”, Ambassador Staffansson said, expressing his condolences to President Thaçi for the tragic loss of the lives of citizens of Kosovo origin in the Munich attacks.
 
President Thaçi thanked Ambassador Staffanson for his continued support and cooperation.
 
Sweden has an embassy in Kosovo, but to date the Ambassador of Sweden to Skopje has been an ambassador to Kosovo and Albania on a non-residential basis, whereas from September Sweden will have its ambassador in Kosovo.
