President Thaçi received the State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan

Prishtina, February 21st, 2019 – President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, received today Toshiko Abe, the State Minister for Foreign Affairs , with whom he discussed the relations between the two countries and the issues of bilateral importance.

President Thaçi thanked Minister Abe for the political support that Japan has given to Kosovo in the last three decades, particularly in the fields of economic development, education, media and environment.

“These days we mark the 10th anniversary of the bilateral relations between the two states. Your visit to Kosovo and signing of agreements between two countries will further strengthen this cooperation. For us Japan remains a strategic state,” said President Thaçi.

Apart from political and economic issues, cultural and sportive cooperation was also discussed at the meeting.

President Thaçi stated that Kosovo’s talented athletes can’t wait to participate at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

On the other hand, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Japan, offered Japan’s support to Kosovo in all fields.

She also stated that Japan will be opening its Embassy in Prishtina very soon, which will further increase the connectivity between the two state sand two nations.

President Thaçi welcomed the opening of the Japanese Embassy in Prishtina, as a big leap forward in strengthening of the relations between our two states.
