President Thaçi organizes mass at the Vatican dedicated to Mother Teresa

Rome, June 17th, 2016 – Under the patronage of the President of the Republic of Kosovo, a mass dedicated to Mother Teresa was held at the Vatican, to remember once again the life, work and the example that Mother Teresa has given to the world.

Besides President Thaçi, the mass was attended by many representatives of the diplomatic corps in Rome, including diplomatic representatives of Montenegro and Albania.

The mass celebrate in the church of San Gregorio al Celio was led by Cardinal Angelo Comastri, Archpriest of St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City, who is also among those who have put forward the decree for the approval of Mother Teresa’s miracle, thus enabling her to become declared a saint.

According to President Thaçi, canonization of Mother Teresa is Vatican’s best gesture dedicated to a personality who has given here love and spirit of solidarity to mankind.

“That spirit of solidarity, that understanding of her, those messages of love and care for all, for people in need all around the world, show the spirit of her country of origin, embodied in her human value and shared with the entire world. Canonization is not only an honor for the Albanian nation, but it is also honors the universal values that Mother Teresa has conveyed throughout the globe”, President Thaçi said.

Months ago, the Holy Father, Pope Francis had approved the decree for the canonization of Mother Teresa, a ceremony that will be held on September 4th of this year in St Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican.
