President Thaçi: Not a single Serb was convicted for any of the 400 massacres in Kosovo

Prishtina, May 14th 2019 – President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, participated today at the Memorial Academy held on the 20th anniversary of the massacres in Qyshk, Pavlan, Zahaq and Llabjan, in the municipality of Peja.

President Thaçi stated that on this day, we all remember, honour and respect the martyrs and the heroes of Qysh and surroundings, murdered by the Serbian army and police forces.

“In the coming weeks we will be marking the 20th anniversary of the victory, but it still remains a great concern to us as institutions of Kosovo, as the Kosovar society, but above all for the conscience of the international community, that still, 20 years after the 400 massacres committed by the state of Serbia, not a single person was convicted by the Serbian state,” said President Thaçi.

The head of state said that this is am ijustice, discrimination and an insult to the integrity and to the dignity of the victims and to the people of Kosovo.

He pointed out that by now the state of Kosovo, the Speaker of the Parliament, at the next parliamentary session will in a unified manner, proclaim a declaration which condemns all crimes, which condemns the genocide perpetrated by the Serbian state in Kosovo.

“I have complete faith in the fact that this resolution will be followed by consecutive steps in the full implementation of our right, that, all the perpetrators of the criminal acts and of ethnic cleansing, of the murdering of over 13.500 civilians and raping of around 20.000 women, these men of the Serbian state apparatus, face the justice,” said the President.
