Prishtina, October 27 – The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Hashim Thaçi, accompanied by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Ramush Haradinaj and the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Dalibor Jevtić, received today the US Ambassador to NATO, Ms. Kay Bailey Hutchison and the UK Ambassador to NATO, Ms. Sarah MacIntosh, accompanied by the respective Ambassadors in Kosovo, with whom he discussed about the developments in Kosovo, with particular emphasis on the developments in the security sector.
President Thaçi thanking them for the visit has spoken about Kosovo’s achievements in the consolidation of the state in all sectors.
“The successful municipal elections, of the highest standards, and the conclusion of the spreading of the Kosovo legal system in the entire territory of Kosovo are the latest achievements”, said President Thaçi.
“While economic development, the strengthening of the rule of law, the dialogue and the building of good neighborly relations are our permanent engagement”, stated President Thaçi.
Stressing that NATO’s role is irreplaceable for peace in Kosovo and in the region, President Thaçi said that the conditions have been fulfilled for Kosovo to form its armed forces to free NATO from the burden of holding peace in the region.
Speaking about the KSF transformation process, President Thaçi said that this process will be transparent, coordinated with the partners of Kosovo and added that Kosovo will implement all the criteria required for the successful transformation of the KSF.
“It will be a force of NATO standards, multi-ethnic, in service of all communities”, said President Thaçi.
“We are the most pro-NATO and pro-EU people in the region and beyond”, said President Thaçi, adding that “our policies are in line with this orientation”.
The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Ramush Haradinaj, declared that “the orientation of the citizens of Kosovo is clear, towards Euro-Atlantic values, and this is a guide for the compilation of the governing policies”.
Speaking about the transformation of the KSF and the rapprochement with NATO, Prime Minister Haradinaj stated that Kosovo’s membership into NATO would conclude the security and peace infrastructure in Kosovo and the region.
Prime Minister Haradinaj added that the comprehensive reforms, the strengthening of the rule of law, guaranteeing the security of the citizens are a permanent priority of the government.
Deputy Prime Minister Jevtić said that he was pleased that “the vote in the last elections was a vote for cooperation and coexistence policies”.
Ambassador Hutchison expressed her happiness that all Kosovo leaders speak with one voice about the Kosovo project in which all citizens will be free and equal and added that she welcomes the deepening of NATO relations with Kosovo.
Ambassador MacIntosh on the other hand said that Kosovo enjoys continued support for its Euro-Atlantic perspective and welcomed Kosovo’s commitment to the strengthening of the rule of law, to the dialogue and to good neighborly relations.
President Thaçi at the end of the meeting expressed his satisfaction with the expressed support and the encouragement received from the partners of Kosovo.
“We are working to make Kosovo a success story for everyone”, concluded President Thaçi.
