President Thaçi met in New York with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Sir Louis Straker

New York, September 20, 2017 – The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, heading the delegation of Kosovo, at the margins of the next session of the United Nations Assembly, met last evening with Sir Louis Straker, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the island state of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, a member of the Caribbean states organization (CARICOM) and which has not recognized Kosovo’s independence.

President Thaçi said that Kosovo has consolidated its international status and is gradually becoming a fully integrated member of the international community

“Our state has been recognized by 114 sovereign states and is a member of more than 60 organizations. Of CARICOM, already 10 countries have recognized Kosovo’s independence and have established diplomatic relations with us. Therefore, Kosovo is interested in establishing diplomatic relations with Saint Vincent and the Grenadines to formalize a friendship between our states”, said President Thaçi during the meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Sir Louis Straker.
