President Thaçi in Munich requests a more strategic approach of the EU regarding Kosovo and the Western Balkansndimor

Munich, February 18 – The President of the country, Hashim Thaçi, on the second day of the Munich Security Conference has continued the meetings with representatives of countries of the world.

President Thaçi has held bilateral meetings with the European Commissioner for Enlargement, Johannes Hahn, with the European Commissioner for Migration, Internal Affairs and Citizenship, Dimitris Avramopoulos, the President of Slovenia, Barut Pahor, with the Secretary General of INTERPOL, with representatives of the Bundestag, with US senators and congressmen, as well as with other participants, including representatives of non-governmental organizations and the media.

At these meetings there is discussed about the achievements of Kosovo and President Thaçi has requested a more strategic approach of the EU regarding Kosovo and the Western Balkans.

The Security Conference in Munich has been the most anticipated event of the year, because there the strategic stances of the new US administration, Germany and Russia are being articulated through the speeches of the US vice president, Mike Pence, Chancellor Angela Merkel and Foreign Minister of Russia Sergei Lavrov.

Considering the strategic importance of this conference for the international community, also important was the articulation of the view of the EU through the EU representative, Federica Mogherini, and the NATO Secretary, Jens Stoltenberg.
