President Thaçi hands over the flag of Kosovo to the alpinists in order to raise it on the top of the Everest

Prishtina, February 07 – The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, received today a group of Kosovar alpinists, who in the coming months will climb on the top of the Everest.

President Thaçi stressed that through the successes in many sports disciplines, the Kosovars are strengthening the national identity and are promoting Kosovo in the world.
“I am aware about the risks this expedition presents and will support you in every step”, added President Thaçi.
On the other hand, the leader of the group of alpinists, Nazmi Hasanramaj ,said that this expedition is dedicated to the state of Kosovo and its message is peace and the promotion of the citizenship.
“The final goal is to raise the Kosovo flag you gave us today on the Everest”, he added.
The group consisting of Nazmi Hasanramaj, Qëndrim Sopi, Arineta Mula and Haki Hasanramaj are continuing preparations for climbing the highest mountain ranges in the world, which are over 8800 meters high.
“For three years we are preparing ourselves. We are continuing the psychological preparations intensively, whereas professionally and spiritually we are prepared for all the challenges, risks and potential sacrifices that may await us there”, said Hasanramaj.
President Thaçi highly praised the courage of the alpinists for this initiative and sacrifice filled journey.
“The conquest of the Everest peaks and raising the flag of Kosovo by you, will be an extraordinary news for our Republic”, said President Thaçi.
