President Thaçi from Reçak: The Serbian monstrous crimes were orchestrated by the state of Serbia

Reçak, January 15, 2020 – The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, today, paid homage and attended the Memorial Academy for the martyrs of the Reçak massacre.

President Thaçi stressed that 1998 was for Kosovo a year filled with horrors from the violence perpetrated by the state of Serbia, where the massacres continued in Prekaz, Likoshan, Obria and throughout Kosovo.

“Over 2,000 Albanian civilians were killed and thousands more were injured. About 350,000 civilians continued to remain in the mountains since their homes were destroyed by the Serbian army and police, and due to the forced eviction. This violence was happening in the eyes of the world”, said President Thaçi.

The Head of State has said that the international institutions were limited to just a few UN Security Council resolutions urging Slobodan Milosevic’s Serbia to stop the violence and avoid the risk of a humanitarian crisis in Kosovo.

According to him, 21 years ago, in this small, but very proud village of Kosovo, a very huge state crime was committed, one of the worst after Srebrenica, by the state of Serbia.

“More than 40 Albanian civilians were executed, from the age of 13 to the age of 82. This genocidal act caused an unprecedented revolt both nationally and internationally”, he added.

In front of many attendees, President Thaçi said that as a result of the international mobilization and in order to put an end to the policy of genocide and ethnic cleansing in Kosovo, the International Conference was quickly organized in Rambouillet in early February 1999.

“The KLA war did its job which is irreplaceable, it is heroic, it is sacred. The help of NATO was crucial. Kosovo was liberated, Kosovo gained freedom. But the withdrawal of Serbian troops made it possible to expose the scale of the genocide perpetrated by the Serbian state against Albanians in Kosovo”, he stressed.

According to President Thaçi, that ethnic cleansing, those massacres, that genocide could not be hidden by no one anymore, it could not be hidden that over 13 thousand Albanian civilians were killed, over 20 thousand Albanian women were raped, about 1 million Albanians were evicted from Kosovo, about 400 massacres were committed and about 1300 children were killed, all directly orchestrated and ordered by the state of Serbia.

President Thaçi thanked all international representatives who for the first time participated in an academy organized for the massacre of Reçak.

“A very high gratitude goes to Ambassador Walker, who never left us alone even when international officials never visited us. Ambassador Walker kept alive the international awareness of the massacre perpetrated by the Serbian state in Kosovo. Therefore, for 13 thousand killed Albanian civilians, 20 thousand raped Albanian women, 1 million Albanians expelled from Kosovo, 400 massacres perpetrated by the Serbian state and about 1300 Albanian children killed, unfortunately even today there is no justice by the international community. This is a fact”, said President Thaçi.

The Head of State has said that the citizens of Kosovo, the families of the martyrs were, are and continue to be desperate and of course revolted.

“Why does this international amnesty happen against the ethnic cleansing committed by the Serbian state, for the massacres in Kosovo and the genocide of Serbia committed against the people of Kosovo. I want to say very openly that this international silence and almost in one form or another this international amnesty of the genocide that Serbia committed in Kosovo encouraged the Serbian state authorities to even deny the crime, the massacre in Reçak”, he said.

According to him, this has offended the people of Kosovo, it has hurt the feelings and wounds of every citizen of Kosovo who demands justice and this international silence is being done in order not to spoil Serbia’s mood.

In the end, President Thaçi said that it is time for everyone to tell the truth without hesitation and of course, that the perpetrators who are also bearers of Serbia’s institutions of genocide, ethnic cleansing and other massacres in Kosovo, of rape, to come to international justice.
