Prishtina, April 26, 2019 – The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, attended today the Memorial Academy for the fallen martyrs in the Battle of Majdan and Melenica.
President Thaçi said that today is a special day, not only for Shala of Bajgora and for Kosovo, but it is also special for the Albanian nation.
“By honoring the martyrs of Brigade 141 “Mehë Uka”, of the operational area of Shala, on the 20th Anniversary of the battle in Majdan and Melenica, we honor the martyrs of freedom, the invalids, honor the families of martyrs, we honor every fellow fighter who participated in those battles, we honor the extraordinary sacrifice of the Kosovo Liberation Army, we honor the past and take energy for the future”,
The Head of State has stressed that this union of the people today, not only of the people of Shala of Bajgora, but is also a union of new energies to respect the glorious past, the sacred Kosovo Liberation Army.
“You should all be confident that as long as we respect those values, the most sublime, most sacred values we have as a country, a state, a society, the struggle of the Kosovo Liberation Army, we will be on the safe path for the future. For our developed future, for Kosovo in NATO, in the European Union and for permanent and special reports with the United States of America”, said President Thaçi.
When talking about the war in Shala of Bajgora, President Thaçi said that we are talking about the Kosovo war, we are talking about the Kosovo Liberation Army.
Based on his constitutional and legal powers, President Thaçi has decorated martyrs Amet Haxha, Asllan Cimili, Enver Musa, Esat Meholli, Qazim Cimili, Rrustem Hyseni, Sokol Preteni, Shemsi Istrefi and Xhemail Haxha with the Order “Hero of Kosovo”.
