Prishtina, January 2nd, 2017 – The President of the country, Hashim Thaçi, has congratulated the new Secretary General of the United Nations, António Guterres, on assuming office.
In the congratulatory telegram, President Thaçi expressed his conviction and trust on the commitment of Secretary Guterres in the strengthening of the role of the most important global organization of free nations and states.
This is the telegram of President Thaçi sent to the Secretary General of the United Nations:
Your Excellency,
On behalf of the citizens and the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo, I congratulate you for officially assuming office of the Secretary General of the United Nations.
The Republic of Kosovo as a new and democratic state is giving continual contribution for peace in the region, to increase cooperation with neighboring countries and the accomplishment of Euro-Atlantic goals.
Our state and its institutions are committed to close cooperation with You and remain committed to the country’s path towards membership in the United Nations.
I express my conviction and have full confidence in your commitment in the strengthening of the role of the most important global organization of free nations and states.
