President Thaçi calls for political unity concerning the visa liberalization

Prishtina, February 15, 2018 – The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, met today with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Montenegro, Duško Markovic, whom he thanked for the support of Montenegro for Kosovo and for his visit close to the marking of the 10th anniversary of independence

President Thaçi and Prime Minister Markovic talked about the bilateral relations, the current political situation in the region and about the European perspective.
 
President Thaçi emphasized that the relations between the two states are excellent, demanding for their expansion in the field of economy, education and culture.

At this meeting, there was also discussed about the necessity of the quick ratification of the agreement between Kosovo and Montenegro on the marking of the border line.
 
“I call for a political unity in Kosovo to ratify the demarcation agreement with Montenegro to pave the way for visa liberalization. This would be the most beautiful gift for the citizens of Kosovo on this 10th anniversary of the independence”, said President Thaçi.
 
On the other hand, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Montenegro, Duško Markovic, has emphasized that Montenegro will continue supporting Kosovo and will deepen its interstate cooperation further.
 
“We will work closely to accomplish our common interests, for EU membership”, said Prime Minister Markovic.
 
President Thaçi has emphasized that the NATO membership of Montenegro will contribute to long-term peace and stability in the Balkans.
