Prishtina, April 14 – The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, received today the US Senator and the friend of Kosovo, John McCain.
On this occasion, for the contribution to the freedom and independence of Kosovo, as well as the deepening of the partnership and friendship between the Republic of Kosovo and the United States of America, the President awarded Senator McCain the medal “Order of Freedom”.
The President has said that in the world there are few people who embody more than Senator McCain the values of freedom. According to President Thaçi, the whole life of Senator McCain is a living monument, of the struggles for freedom to dedication.
“In our most difficult days as a nation, we found inspiration in you as a role model. You became our voice when we had no voice. You, with your work and your commitment for the liberation of Kosovo, testified that freedom is not a privilege of the strong one, but fundamental right for each person, for every nation”, emphasized President Thaçi.
On the other hand, the US Senator, John McCain, thanked the President and the people of Kosovo for the award and honor paid to him.
He said that he was proud of his return to Kosovo, adding that everyone knows how much journey and progress there should be made, also assessing the progress that has been made.
“A functional democracy, powerful lawmaking, fair and free elections, I think that about these people of Kosovo should be proud, for which they have sacrificed so much”, said McCain.
He emphasized that the USA will continue the support to ensure that Kosovo remains free, democratic and beautiful as it is today.
President Thaçi has said that Senator McCain remains a precious friend for Kosovo and its people.
