The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Dr. Fatmir Sejdiu, sent a congratulation letter to Mrs. Angela Merkel on her re-election as a German Chancellor. The congratulation letter says:

On behalf of the people and the Institutions of the Republic of Kosovo, I am writing to congratulate You warmly on Your victory in the national elections and re-election as Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany.
I use this opportunity to express, once again, our deep appreciation for the long-term commitment of Germany which has brought peace and prosperity to the people of Kosovo. The role and support You have extended to us as we continue to further develop our new and independent country will always remain most valuable to us.
The Republic of Kosovo is fully committed to building a prosperous, democratic and multiethnic country that serves the well-being of all its citizens. Kosovo is likewise committed to continue its path towards integration into the European Union and NATO and I rest confident that Germany will continue to be our partner in achieving that mission.
