Brussels, June 21st, 2016 – President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi was received today by the President of the European Parliament, Martin Schulz.
President Thaçi informed the President of the European Parliament, Martin Schulz, on the recent developments in Kosovo, with particular emphasis on Kosovo’s commitment in the path towards implementation of the visa liberalization.
“Kosovo has met the criteria for visa liberalization and we expect a meritorious decision by the European Union for the work done by the country’s institutions”, President Thaçi said.
The head of state stressed that Kosovo remains committed to further consolidation of the state, while he thanked President Schulz, European Parliament rapporteur Tanja Fajon and the European Parliament for their continuous support and for pushing forward the visa liberalization process for Kosovo.
On the other hand, the President of the European Parliament, Martin Schulz said that visa liberalization is the main topic that preoccupies Kosovo in its relations with the EU.
He said he was convinced that Kosovo will receive a deserved outcome for its commitment to meeting the criteria for visa liberalization.
During his stay in Brussels, the President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi will be received also by the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vise-President of the European Commission, Federica Mogherini.
