President Obama sent his congratulations to President Jahjaga on the occasion of seventh independence anniversary of Kosovo

President of the United States of America, Mr. Barack Obama, conveyed his best wishes to the President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, on the occasion of the seventh anniversary of the proclamation of the independence of the Republic of Kosovo.

President Obama’s felicitatory letter states:

Dear Madam President,

I extend my congratulations to you and the people of Kosovo on the seventh anniversary on February 17th.

With each additional year, I continue to be impressed by Kosovo’s progress as a sovereign and multi ethnic democracy. The historic parliamentary elections in June demonstrated to the world Kosovo’s commitment to democratic processes in all parts of the country. I appreciate your leadership and resolve in working with party leaders during the extended government-formation process.

We welcome and fully support Kosovo’s integration into the international community. We look forward to competing side-by-side with Kosovo’s athletes in the upcoming Olympic Games. We also appreciate your country’s support for the international anti-ISIL Coalition and your strong commitment to fighting terrorism and violent extremism, one of the top priorities of my administration.

The United States supports Kosovo’s progress towards full Euro-Atlantic integration and in building a brighter future for all of  its citizens.

Sincerely,

Barack Obama
