The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga received today the Ambassador of the Republic of Italy in our country, Michael L. Giffoni.
At the meeting, President Jahjaga expressed the gratitude of the people and institutions of the Republic of Kosovo for the continuous support that the Republic of Italy has given the Republic of Kosovo in all periods and especially in its state-building phase.
She stressed that both our countries have very good relations in all areas and these relationships will expand and intensify in the future.
President Jahjaga is also convinced that Italy will continue to support the aspirations of Kosovo on the path of Euro-Atlantic integration as a permanent objective of our country.
Ambassador Michael L. Giffoni conveyed President Jahjaga the felicitation of the President of the Republic of Italy, Mr. Giorgio Napolitano on her election as head of the country.
In the felicitation of President Napolitano it is said:
“I would like to express my cordial congratulations on your election as President of the Republic of Kosovo. Of course this act has a special symbolic value for all women in the region.
Italy confirms its convincing commitment to support Kosovo and the consolidation of regional stability, through action on a bilateral plan and contribution to international missions.
I am sure that our close bilateral relations will find new opportunities to consolidate, deepen and will thus contribute to the advancement of the European perspective of Kosovo and the whole region.
Madam President, Please accept my best wishes for a full success in Your high mandate and welfare of the people of Kosovo.”
