President Mattarella congratulates President Thaçi on the 12th anniversary of the independence

Prishtina, February 16th – President of the Republic of Kosovo Hashim Thaçi received today a congratulatory telegram on the occasion of the 12th anniversary of the independence from the Presdient of Italy Sergio Mattarella.

In his letter, President Mattarella states that Kosovo is aware that it can count on Italy, as an amicable country which is concretely engaged in close observation of institutional strengthening and implementation of reforms in order to progressively bring it closer to European Union.

“Our full support for such a process is demonstrated with continuous participation in KFOR mission, in which Italy continues to maintain command”, says President Mattarella.

This is President Mattarella’s complete letter:

At this joyous anniversary of your national holiday, I have the pleasure to, on behalf of the Italian people and on my personal behalf, express most cordial felicitations.

Kosovo is aware that it can count on Italy, as an amicable country which is concretely engaged in close observation of institutional strengthening and implementation of reforms in order to progressively bring it closer to European Union. Our full support for such a process is demonstrated with continuous participation in KFOR mission, in which Italy continues to maintain command.

In such a context -and within regional stability- the dialogue process between Prishtina and Belgrade, facilitated by EU is crucial, an issue which Italy supports with conviction.

In this spirit, I express once again my most sincere congratulation for your well being and for the prosperity of the amicable people of Kosovo.
