President Jahjaga returned from the visit to Lithuania

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga returned today from her visit to Lithuania, where she participated at the conference “Women enhancing democracy: best practices”, organized by the President of Lithuania, Dalia Grybauskaite and the Finnish President Tarja Halonen, in the framework of the Forum for Democracy, which represents a large number of countries.

She was panelists at the session “Combating violence against women and traffick of human beings”, and her appearance was received with much interest from the conference participants.

In the conclusions of the conference, Kosovo was mentioned as a good example on the representation of women in the Assembly of Kosovo and for the legislation for combating violence against women and trafficking of human beings.

While in Vilnius, President Jahjaga had a series of official meetings with state leaders and other eminent personalities.

She met with the U.S. Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, the President of Finland, Tarja Halonen, the President of Lithuania, Dalia Grybauskaite, the EU High Representative for Foreign Policy and SecurityMrs. Catherine Ashton, the Chairwoman of the Latvian Parliament, Salvita Aboltina, the President of Mongolia, Elbegdorj Tsakhia, Mrs. Melanne Verveer, ambassador to the U.S. Department of State for Global Affairs of women, the director of the National Democratic Institute, Kenneth Wollack and representatives of many states who took part in the Vilnius conference.
