President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs Atifete Jahjaga, received today at a meeting, the Foundation Group of the Association of the Women in Economy, chaired by Ms Afërdita Saraçini. Present at this meeting were Mrs. Mimoza Kusari, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Trade and Industry and USAID Kosovo Director, Ms Maureen Shauket.
President Jahjaga spoke with the Foundation Group of the Association of the Women in Economy with the progress achieved on the foundation of this association that aims the economic empowerment of the women.
President Jahjaga thanked the Foundation Group for their work so far, and stated that taking into account the experience and professionalism of all those involved in the foundation of this association, “I am very sure that you would be able to establish an organisation that will further advance the position of the women in our country and will make Kosovo an example of the gender equality”.
Association of the Women in Economy is an initiative that stemmed from the proceedings of the International Women’s Summit, that was held in Prishtina on October 4th to 6th 2012, under the organisation and patronage of the President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs Atifete Jahjaga. This initiative is undertaken by the support of the Deputy Prime Minister of Kosovo, Mrs Mimoza Kusari and the USAID mission in Kosovo.
The Association of Women in Economy will be an independent and apolitical body in service to the empowerment of the women in Kosovar economy.
