President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, received today at a meeting the Foreign Affairs of United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, with whom she discussed the cooperation between the two countries, the process of the international consolidation as well as other democratic processes which Kosovo is going through.
President Jahjaga categorized Sheikh Al-Nahyan’s visit as an opportunity for the expansion of cooperation in various fields. She added that Kosovo and United Arab Emirates have established good mutual relations and have exchanged important visits of high level personalities, which serve the establishment of concrete cooperation between two countries.
President Jahjaga stated that Kosovo has achieved considerable advances, in particular it has managed to raise the number of international recognitions from within the Muslim world, thus further consolidating its statehood. According to Madam President, international consolidation of the country is one of the main priorities and that this process can be helped by the United Arab Emirates, particularly in the Middle East region, but as well as with the member countries of the Organisation of Islamic Conference, which have not as yet recognised Kosovo.
Madam President emphasized that Kosovo aspires membership in international organisations, in particular in the UN, as a country which has stabilised its internal democracy, which is building an all inclusive society, as an internationally recognised state and as a promoter of peace and stability in the region.
President Jahjaga said that our country is undergoing a process of general reforms, which will enable the creation of a good business climate and of general economic development, which will attract foreign investments. The help of the United Arab Emirates in the field of economic development would be beneficial for our country, stated President Jahjaga.
President Jahjaga said that Kosovo and United Arab Emirates are countries which have common interests and which address the extremism wherever and whenever it appears. She added that this is an issue which requires a common approach.
Foreign Affairs Minister of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, thanked President Jahjaga for the hospitality and congratulated her on the achievements of Kosovo on all fields. He said that UAE have supported Kosovo during different periods and will continue to support Kosovo in other democratic processes and its international consolidation.
UAE Foreign Affairs Minister, Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan also said that the stability of the whole region of the western Balkans is as important as are the economic and investments stability aspects.
