President Jahjaga received by the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Mr. Mark Rutte

President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, during her official visit to the Netherlands, was received today by the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Mr. Mark Rutte.

President Jahjaga and Prime Minister Rutte discussed the actual developments in Kosovo, Kosovo’s European perspective, the visa liberalisation process and the relations between Republic of Kosovo and Republic of Serbia.

Madam President thanked Prime Minister Rutte for the comprehensive support that Netherland has provided, for the help provided by the Dutch troops and for various programmes of the Dutch Government in different fields, held during the last two decades.

She also added that Kosovo has made considerable progress in establishment of an all inclusive state, with the help of its international partners. She also stated the importance of continuation of the Dutch support in its path of European integrations and its sustainable development.

As far as the dialogue process with Serbia is concerned, President Jahjaga said that dialogue is the best way which contributes to the stability of the whole region and emphasized that the agreement reached by the two governments is important for the European integrations process of both independent states. European Union must engage in monitoring of the agreement implementation, inclusive of Holland, which will be a kind of assessment of the Serbia’s EU integrations perspective.

Madam President stated that Kosovo is dedicated to the implementation of this agreement and emphasized the fact that Kosovo has already undertaken many steps in relation to its implementation in practice. President Jahjaga informed Prime Minister Rutte on the proceedings of the last municipal elections held in Kosovo which she characterised as free and democratic.

President Jahjaga thanked the Dutch Prime Minister for the continuous support offered by the Netherlands for Kosovo’s European perspective and for the commencement of the negotiations on Stabilisation-Association Agreement, a process strongly supported by all EU member states.

Madam President asked for the support of the Dutch Government for the visa liberalisation process for the citizens of Kosovo and said that Kosovo is dedicated to the fulfilment of the criteria required for a successful conclusion of this process.

Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Mr. Mark Rutte, congratulated President Jahjaga on the achievements of Kosovo and praised as important the agreement reached on the dialogue process between Kosovo and Serbia. He said that the initiation of negotiations on Stabilisation Association Agreement with Kosovo is very important, an act also supported by his country, and stated that the whole western Balkans region has a European perspective.

Dutch Prime Minister emphasized that all the achievements so far, including the agreement reached in Brussels and the initiation of the SAA negotiations, will help and push forwards the processes in Kosovo. He also said that economic development and foreign investments are important for the country. Dutch Prime Minister also showed his interest in other developments in Kosovo, inclusive of the municipal elections held on December 1st.
