President Jahjaga met with the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mr. Nawaz Sharif

President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, met today in London with the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mr. Nawaz Sharif, whom she thanked for the recognition of the independence of Kosovo by Pakistan. She praised the help which Pakistan has provided in various time periods to Kosovo, through its participation in international missions in Kosovo and through the support of Kosovo’s state building process.

President Jahjaga stated that relations between the two countries must be expanded in all fields, especially they need advancing in the field of economic cooperation. Madam President said that Kosovo has already been recognised by more than 100 states worldwide and that Kosovo is already playing an important role in regional peace and stability. She also added that international consolidation of Kosovo is important and potentiated that Pakistan is in position to help Kosovo in the process of further recognitions, particularly with the member countries of the Organisation of Islamic Conference.

President Jahjaga emphasized that Kosovo is a stable state which has a good business environment and is an attractive country for foreign investment, in various sectors and stated that Kosovo does require support in this direction. Madam President added that Islamic Development Bank might be in position to help Kosovo through supporting of the business in the country, which would ensure the sustainability of economic development and will help creation of new work places.
 
 President Jahjaga extended Prime Minister Sharif an official invitation to visit Kosovo at a suitable time.
 
Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mr. Nawaz Sharif, praised the relations with Kosovo as excellent and said that Pakistan is deeply interested to continue the cooperation and to support Kosovo in all fields, in economy as well as in political sphere.

He emphasized that Kosovo can count on Pakistan’s support and said that both countries must create opportunities for signing of bilateral agreements in various fields. Prime Minister Sharif also added that Pakistan and Kosovo must build strong partnership relations.
