President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, met today in New York with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Singapore, Mr. K. Shanmugam, with whom she discussed the process of international consolidation of Kosovo and its membership in international organisations.
President Jahjaga informed the Singapore Foreign Minister with the achievements of Kosovo in building of an all inclusive state, which promotes peace and stability in the region as well as good neighbourliness with all countries. She said that Kosovo in six years of its independence has been recognised by 108 countries of the world, and that Kosovo aims membership in all international organisations, above all in the UN. She also added that recognition of independence of Kosovo by Singapore will help Kosovo’s international consolidations and would open international consolidation of the country and open its perspective in the region of South-Eastern Asia.
Foreign Affairs Minister of Singapore, Mr. K. Shanmugam, praised the achievements of Kosovo and emphasized the importance of the achievement of agreement within the dialogue with Serbia, which leads towards normalisation of relations between the two countries. He also added that Singapore considers as positive the developments in Kosovo and emphasized the possibility for recognition of Kosovo, under a process which requires more time.
