President Atifete Jahjaga received the Special Raporteur for Kosovo Mr. Bjorn Von Sydow

President of the Republic of Kosovo Mrs Atifete Jahjaga received today the Special Raporteur for Kosovo, nominated as such by the Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Mr.Bjorn Von Sydow.

President Jahjaga informed Mr.Von Sydow with the developments in Kosovo since the ending of the supervisory stage of Kosovo’s independence, a decision classified as a joint success of the institutions and people of Kosovo and its international partners. President Jahjaga also informed Mr.Von Sydow with the progress achieved so far on the path of European integrations and expressed the dedication of the institutions of Kosovo towards the fulfilment of the EU requirements and obligations in order to be able to open the Stabilisation-Association Agreement negotiation process. President Jahjaga underlined that integration of Kosovo into EU will bring new values and Kosovo will not be a burden to the European family. 

President Jahjaga acquainted the Special Raporteur with some other developments in our country. Speaking about the dialogue process with Serbia, she said that dialogue is the only way towards the normalisation of the relations between the Republic of Kosovo and Republic of Serbia. President Jahjaga emphasized the importance of implementation of agreements achieved so far through the dialogue process and asked for the help from the European Institutions in ensuring Serbia’s compliance in agreement implementation.

 
Special Raporteur for Kosovo of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Mr. Bjorn Von Sydow, said that the aim of his visit to Kosovo is to get acquainted with the latest developments, achievements and challenges, in order to be able to present a report to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. He said that since his last visit, there have been important positive developments and expressed the readiness of the Council of Europe to continue the support for Kosovo. Mr.Von Sydow said that through this visit we would be in a better position to understand the expectations of Kosovo from the Council of Europe in order to focus the future support towards the issues that are seen as priority by the institutions of Kosovo.
