President Atifete Jahjaga met with the representatives of the security mechanisms

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga received today the representatives of the security mechanisms in Kosovo, the international and local ones: the commander of the NATO peacekeeping troops, KFOR, General Erhard Drews, the Minister of Internal Affairs, Mr. Bajram Rexhepi , the director of the Intelligence Agency, Mr. Bashkim Smakaj and the Head of the EU mission for the rule of law, Mr. Xavier Bout de Marnhac.

The meeting with the representatives of the security mechanisms in Kosovo was developed to assess the security situation in Kosovo on the eve of parliamentary and presidential elections of the Republic of Serbia.

It was estimated that the security situation is calm and there is no tendency for its escalation and that all necessary measures have been taken to have a quiet and safe environment.

The representatives of the security mechanisms in Kosovo stated that all their actions are coordinated and that they are working in close partnership with each other.

The President of the Republic of Kosovo and the representatives of the security mechanisms in Kosovo stated that the institutions are committed to preserve law and order throughout the territory of Kosovo during the Serbian elections.

President Jahjaga got informed about the decision of the OSCE to facilitate the voting process for citizens with dual citizenship for the presidential and parliamentary elections of the Republic of Serbia which will be held in the territory of Kosovo, being this a right that is based on international laws and norms, which the state of Kosovo, as well as other states, respect in a mutual manner.
