Charles, Prince of Wales, received President JahjagaPresident of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, was received today in London, by Charles, Prince of Wales, with whom she discussed the mutual cooperation between Kosovo and United Kingdom, the international consolidation of the country, inclusion of Kosovo in international initiatives as well as the protection and promotion of the inter-faith
President Jahjaga thanked Prince Charles for the help that United Kingdom has provided for Kosovo on the establishment of peace and stability and building of a sustainable democracy in Kosovo.
She also said that the international consolidation of the state of Kosovo is continuing, through recognitions and building of bilateral relations with various countries of the world, and emphasized the need for membership of the country in international organisations, in particular in UN, EU and NATO.
Madam President accentuated that the support of the United Kingdom on this issue will continue to remain essential. She stated that Kosovo today is an all inclusive and multi-cultural state, with a strong tradition of inter-faith tolerance, which is an added value of our state. Madam President ascertained that United Kingdom and Prince Charles himself, as promoters of inter-faith tolerance, could include Kosovo in their projects on protection and further cultivation of this tolerance.
President Jahjaga praised the initiative of the British Foreign Secretary, Mr. William Hague, on the prevention of sexual violence in conflict, as a very important initiative, which will address one of the most hideous crimes committed during the periods of armed conflicts.
Madam President also said that in Kosovo, women have been a target of sexual violence as means of war during the 1999 war, and addressing of this issue and establishment of justice for them will help their rehabilitation and establishment of viable peace for all the citizens of Kosovo.
Charles, Prince of Wales, welcomed President Jahjaga and expressed his interest for the developments in Kosovo, the consolidation of the state of Kosovo, the capacities for economic development and for the support opportunities through various projects related to the youth, as well as the inter-faith tolerance in Kosovo.
