We have gathered here today, representatives of public and private institutions, of the military world, of the business sector, as well as cultural and academic circles, to celebrate together the expansion of the cooperation between Kosovo and Iowa, and further strengthening of the amicable relations between our two states.

Honourable Governor Branstad,

Mrs. Branstad,

Ambassador Jacobson

General Orr

Leaders of the Institutions of Kosovo,

Ministers and Deputy Ministers,

Ladies and Gentlemen

We have gathered here today, representatives of public and private institutions, of the military world, of the business sector, as well as cultural and academic circles, to celebrate together the expansion of the cooperation between Kosovo and Iowa, and further strengthening of the amicable relations between our two states.

Today’s day is a particularly marked event in the expression of our mutual dedication to build upon our similarities, upon the values and principles which we share, related to freedom and establishment of a society and a state which guarantees a dignified life and prosperity to its citizens, regardless of their ethnicity or religion.

Only few days ago we celebrated together the 4th of July, the Independence Day of the United States of America, and we expressed our gratitude to our strategic ally and to the thousands of American citizens who stood by the citizens of Kosovo during the worst period of their history by offering them help and support on their traversing towards peace and independence.

It is this support, provided by Kosovo’s greatest friend, the United States of America, which has gathered us here, which is being crowned by the partnership with the State of Iowa.

Through the support of its international friends, Kosovo has become a factor of peace and stability in the region and beyond, and a model of the consolidation of a multi-ethnic state.

I would like to thank Governor Branstad, The State of Iowa and its citizens for the continuous support and a sincere cooperation offered to Kosovo and its citizens.

I am convinced that we will continue to build bridges of cooperation and that we will expand the friendship between our two countries. I raise this toast to the eternal friendship between Republic of Kosovo and the United States of America.

Cheers!
