President Jahjagas speech at the reception organised by the Embassy of Croatia in PrishtinaPresident of the Republic of Kosovo, Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, took part today at the reception organised by the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in Prishtina, in the honour of marking of the National Day of Croatia and Croatias accession into European Union.
In her speech, Madam President said:
Today is a particularly special day, a day when we celebrate the success of a country and an amicable nation, of realisation of a centuries long dream to become part of the nations and states of Europe, the Republic of Croatia being a sovereign and independent state, an equal member with full rights of the European Union.
We, the countries of the western Balkans, joining the family of the free and dignified nations of the united Europe, taking into consideration our past and difficulties which we have gone through, see as a guarantee that we will be building a society of free and equal citizens, a system of rule of law and a democratic society of equal chances and opportunities.
Accession of Republic of Croatia in European Union is above all an accomplished success and a merit of the Croatian people and its leadership.
We, the countries which aspire membership into European Union, cordially congratulate you on this success of a historic importance, remaining assured upon the continuous support and backing of the Republic of Croatia on the enlargement of the European Club to include the rest of the Balkan countries.
Republic of Kosovo has enjoyed the continuous support from the Republic of Croatia and our two countries are an example of the development of amicable relations and cooperation as factor of peace and stability and of building of the democratic societies.
My cordial felicitations on behalf of the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo,
I wish you lots of success in the club of the free and equal citizens of the European Union.
