“The people and the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo highly praise the significant support that Norway has and is still providing to our country” – the President of Republic of Kosovo Dr. Fatmir Sejdiu said during a meeting today with Mrs. Elisabeth Walaas, Norwegian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.

On the occasion, President Sejdiu thanked Mrs. Walaas for Norway’s support to Kosovo at the International Court of Justice, where he said that Norway has presented strong arguments supporting the legality of declaration of independence and the right of the people of Kosovo to live in freedom and independence.

On the other hand, Mrs. Walaas reaffirmed Norway’s commitment to maintain its support to Kosovo in all the fields, especially in implementing the standards for integration into the Euro-Atlantic community.

Norwegian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Elisabeth Walaas, expressed her commitment to strengthen the cooperation between the two countries, especially in the field of education, where Norway will continue to provide its support, so as to ensure that the quality of education in Kosovo is equivalent to the one in Europe.

The meeting also discussed other important issues, such as bilateral cooperation, rule of law, fight against corruption, etc. President Sejdiu and Mrs. Walaas stated that the Progress Report on Kosovo was impartial, as it underscores progress made in Kosovo, but also challenges that lie ahead of Republic of Kosovo’s institutions in the future, especially in the fields of rule of law and fight against corruption, as a phenomenon that has affected the entire region.
