The speech of President Atifete Jahjaga at the manifestation “Kosova for Japan”

The people of Kosovo appreciate friendship and solidarity very much because it has gone through difficult moments and we particularly remember with gratitude the support of Japan for the state of Kosovo, for the reconstruction, democracy and the development of our country.

Honored guests,
Ladies and Gentlemen,

We are here today that with this concert, through this artistic moment, as a good form of good cooperation and cultural interweaving, to remember and honor all victims and all Japanese people, who suffered from the tsunami, one of the unpredictable natural phenomena which man, in spite of all the wisdom and progress of science, has not yet been able to predict and make the adequate protection.

The art of music is that value, is that gift of man, that language of communication that raises the most noble feelings, most human feelings, the unique feelings understandable as universal values of humanity.

Therefore, with this wonderful concert of the Philharmonic Orchestra, we are here to express solidarity and to feel the pain with the Japanese people and government of this friend country as well as to find the courage and strength to quickly recover the consequences.

The people of Kosovo appreciate friendship and solidarity very much because it has gone through difficult moments and we particularly remember with gratitude the support of Japan for the state of Kosovo, for the reconstruction, democracy and the development of our country.

The concert of this evening is not only to honor those who suffered the consequences of the merciless earthquake, but also reaffirmation of universal values of freedom, peace, acceptance, and harmony between nations.

In this case we express values through art, while our friendship with the Japanese people, and with other people of the world, is built with respect and mutual support.

On behalf of the Republic of Kosovo and its citizens, once again we send our sincere condolences to the victims of the tsunami, and express solidarity with our Japanese friends.
