In a reception organized by our community there, President Thaçi said that he feels good when he sees how the Kosovo community in Canada is welcomed and has been helped to integrate into the Canadian society.

“You are now represented in all sectors of life”, stated President Thaçi, adding that “now you have two homes, Kosovo and Canada”.

The President has said we should never forget the past, but we all together have to look to the best future for our people.

“It has been a difficult time for all at that time, but with the help of our international friends we have managed to overcome it and we are working hard to also strengthen the peace in our region”, said President Thaçi

Whereas, the representatives of the Kosovar community in Canada thanked President Thaçi for the visit and the recognition he has brought to Halifax on behalf of the Republic of Kosovo.

They have also expressed their happiness on the quick recovery of the state of Kosovo.

Most of the Kosovars living in Halifax have arrived in 1999 as refugees fleeing from the repressive campaign and the attempt for genocide of the Serbian army and forces.
