The President of the U.S.A., Barack Obama, congratulated President Atifete Jahjaga

The President of the United States of America, Barack Obama has sent a congratulations letter to the new President of the Republic of Kosovo, Ms Atifete Jahjaga.

In President Obama’s letter of congratulations it is said:

Honored Madam President,

I congratulate you on your election as President of the Republic of Kosovo. Your election, with the support of the major parties in the ruling coalition and the opposition, represents the growing political maturity of Kosovo and its growing status as a democracy based on equality for all.

The United States remain steadfast friend of the people of Kosovo. We will support all efforts that can help you on the path towards common goals of full integration of Kosovo into Euro-Atlantic and international institutions. In particular, we will continue to work with your institutions to advance the reforms necessary to build a comprehensive and multi-ethnic democracy, to strengthen the economy of Kosovo and the rule of law.

Now that you are taking responsibilities as President, I wish you full success.
