The President of the European Parliament, Antonio Tajani congratulates President Thaçi on the 10th anniversary of the independence

The President of the European Parliament, Antonio Tajani, has sent a congratulatory telegram to the President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, on the occasion of the marking of the tenth anniversary of the declaration of Kosovo’s independence.

The full letter:

Your Excellency,

On the behalf of the European Parliament, I would like to thank you and your government for inviting me to attend a solemn session of your Assembly on the 18th of February 2018 dedicated to the celebration of the tenth anniversary of the independence of Kosovo.

Achieving peace, stability and prosperity in the Western Balkans region is one of the mail external affairs objectives of the European Union. I am therefore very pleased with the new strategy for the Western Balkans, presented last week during the plenary session of the European Parliament, which reaffirms the European Union’s commitment to the enlargement process and the membership aspirations of the countries in the region.

Unfortunately, due to previous commitments, I will not be able to attend the ceremony that you are organizing in Pristina on 18 February.

However, I send you my best regards and hope that there will be other opportunities to meet again in the future.

Yours sincerely,
Antonio Tajani
