The Office of the President of the Republic of Kosovo condemns the arrestment of two members of the Kosovo Police by the Police of the Republic of Serbia, at the border crossing between the two countries in Merdare, and considers the act as unacceptable and an attack on the professional police institution.
The arrestment of the members of the Kosovo Police, on duty, is an attack on the institutional and territorial integrity of Kosovo. The frequent arrestments of the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo, by authorities of the Republic of Serbia, do not contribute to the establishment of good relations between the two countries.
The violation of human rights of the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo, and especially the violation of the professional integrity of the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo, is a punishable and intolerable act.
The Office of the President of the Republic of Kosovo requests from the authorities of the Republic of Serbia to give up these provocations and arbitrary actions towards the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo and its institutions and to release all those arrested without reason.
