Signing of accession to the IMF and WB is another important milestone for Kosovo

Republic of Kosovo’s President, Dr. Fatmir Sejdiu, travelled today to the USA, heading a senior delegation of our country, also composed of Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi, Minister of Foreign Affairs Skender Hyseni and the Minister of Finance Ahmet Shala, which will participate in the ceremony of signing the accession of our country to the International Monetary Fund (FMN) and World Bank (WB).

Commenting on accession to these institutions and the signing ceremony to take place on Monday, President Sejdiu said that this is another milestone for Kosovo.

“It is a sign of support to Kosovo. When Kosovo acceded to these institutions, there were member countries to these institutions that have not recognised the Republic of Kosovo yet, but that have yet voted in favour. We want to thank all of them” – President Sejdiu said.

Answering the questions posed by journalist while he was about to depart for Washington, President Sejdiu also mentioned elections to take place in Albania on June 28, holding them a central and extremely important event for the new era of the growth of Republic of Albania.

Sejdiu said that these elections will be a test on Albania’s values of democracy.

“Albania is entering a new stage of a more dynamic growth and progress, which will render the road to accession to the EU shorter” - President Sejdiu said.
