Prime Minister of Malaysia Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak receives President Sejdiu

The Prime Minister of Malaysia Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak confirmed the strong commitment of Malaysia to boost cooperation with Republic of Kosovo. The Malaysian Prime Minister reaffirmed the commitment of his country to support the youngest state in the world, Republic of Kosovo, today as well, during a bilateral meeting with the President of Republic of Kosovo, Dr. Fatmir Sejdiu.

“We have recognized Kosovo and we will continue to support your country”, Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib said during the discussion. He also restated his commitment to support Republic of Kosovo in its efforts to ensure new recognitions, especially from the countries of the South-East Asia on which Malaysia mazy exert an influence.

Having thanked Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib for the invitation to the World Islamic Economic Forum, President Sejdiu reminded that Kosovo has, unfortunately, suffered terrible tragedies but that people of Kosovo are resolved to look forward and to maintain excellent relations with all the countries in the region.

In this context, speaking of Kosovo’s relations with the neighboring countries, President Sejdiu said: “We regret Serbia is still failing to disengage from the old logic of dominance over others, which has brought about many tragedies in Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and, most lately, in Kosovo”.

At this meeting too, President Sejdiu asserted the aspiration of Republic of Kosovo to remain an important factor of peace, stability and cooperation in the region.

He also affirmed that Kosovo strives for a good cooperation with other countries of the world, including the countries of the South-East Asia. “Accordingly – President Sejdiu added – we expect from You, Mr. Prime Minister, to support us, as you have always done so far.

During this friendly meeting, Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib and President Sejdiu agreed that suitable conditions have been created to deepen bilateral relations and establish diplomatic relations. They also underscored the importance of facilitating the free movement of people between the two countries and encouraging bilateral trade exchanges. President Sejdiu highlighted that he has invited investors from Malaysia to invest in Kosovo, which, owing to its inexhaustible resources, offers great opportunities.
