President Thaçi: The cooperation with Iowa is strengthening the state of Kosovo

Prishtina, June 29 – The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, received today a delegation of the State of Iowa, headed by the Secretary for Agriculture, Bill Northey, along with Major General Timothy Orr from the American National Guard of Iowa.

President Thaçi stressed that the mutual visits are very important to advance the cooperation between the two countries in all fields.

“Our relations with the USA will be eternally special. Our cooperation with Iowa is just a reflection of these relations. This cooperation is strengthening our state”, stressed President Thaçi.

At this meeting there was also discussed about the cooperation between the American National Guard of Iowa and the Kosovo Security Force.

President Thaçi has said that the transformation of the KSF into an army is a constitutional right of Kosovo, reiterating that no one can veto it and that this transformation is unstoppable.

“We will move in a coordinated way in the transformation of the KSF”, he added.

On the other hand, Major General Timothy Orr said that the partnership between the Guard and the KSF is very powerful and they will continue with trainings and various support programs for the KSF.

With the delegation of Iowa, President Thaçi also discussed about exchanges in the field of education, agriculture and other fields.

He has thanked the Secretary for Agriculture, Bill Northey, and the other members of the group for the supports that Iowa has offered to Kosovo in the field of agriculture.

The President said that the students who have completed and the ones continuing their studies in the Iowa University will come back to support the development of Kosovo.

He has also welcomed the idea of the delegation to open an Office of Iowa in Kosovo, which would facilitate the communication and the cooperation between the two countries even more.
