The full statement of the President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi:

I am disappointed and concerned with the propagandistic campaign in the old style of Serbia, which continues to evoke fear and interethnic hatred among the Serb community living in the northern part of Kosovo.

This propaganda orchestrated by Serbia aims the intimidation of the citizens of Kosovo living in the north of the country and the prevention of their full integration process in the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo.

Throughout the entire history so far, the state of Serbia has manipulated and victimized, for their own political purposes, the Serb community living in Kosovo. The consequences of such a destructive approach are evident even today.

Therefore, I once again invite Serbia to renounce from such practices which do not serve in any form to the reconciliation process and the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia.

In this case, I want to reassure the Serb community living in Kosovo that no harm will ever be happen to them from the security institutions of the Republic of Kosovo, which are democratic and protect the lives of all citizens wherever they are, regardless of their ethnic belonging.

The European Union and NATO must warn Serbia to refrain from the scenario of promoting a new conflict in Kosovo and the region.

Kosovo and our whole region need only increase of regional cooperation, good neighborliness and the acceleration of the integration process into the EU and NATO, as the main condition for long-term peace and security.
