President Thaçi receives support from the US Senate on the Armed Forces and the membership into the NATO Partnership for Peace

Washington, January 10th, 2017 – The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, who is on an official visit in the United States, met last evening with the Chairman of the United States Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, Senator Bob Corker.

President Thaçi and Senator Corker discussed about the deepening of bilateral relations.

“We discussed about the need for a leading role of the USA in Kosovo and in the region, because the delays of the European Union are creating a vacuum which other stakeholders are using”, said President Thaçi.

On the other hand, the Chairman of the United States Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, Senator Bob Corker, has reaffirmed the US support for the establishment of the Armed Forces of Kosovo, for Kosovo’s membership into the NATO Partnership for Peace and has added that Kosovo is playing an important role in the fight against terrorism.
