Prishtina, May 3rd, 2016 – President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi received today the rector of the University of Prizren, Ramë Vataj, who accompanied by members of the Governing Council and deans of faculties within this institution of higher education.
President Thaçi congratulated rector Vataj on the commitment for the consolidation of the university, emphasizing the importance of the steps taken to deepen its reforms.
“The achievements in the initial stages of its functioning is the best message that the University of Prizren “Ukshin Hoti” is sending. Of course, all the criteria, standards that are required by the Kosovo Accreditation Agency must be met”, President Thaçi said, congratulating UPZ’s chairmen for having approximately 13,000 students in their ranks, with an academic staff of regional standards and beyond.
The head of state praised the fact that this university offers programmes in three language, which, according to him, is a good example of a new Kosovo, multiethnic Kosovo, a European Kosovo.
On the other hand, the rector of the University of Prizren, Ramë Vataj, on behalf of UPZ, congratuled President Thaçi upon assuming the office of the head of state. “We are the only university in Kosovo that offers programmes in Turkish and Bosnian languages. We are working on profiling programs and curricula”, UPZ’s rector Vataj said, who stressed the commitment to further strengthen the quality of the teaching staff at all levels of studies.
“I encourage you to work unceasingly to raise the quality and capacities of the university, to do more in scientific research, to diversify the curricula in your institution. You have done a solid job, but, certainly, there is room to do more”, President Thaçi said, adding that the University of Prizren “Ukshin Hoti” will have continued support from the Office of the President and other relevant institutions.
